Pick Your Poison
Growing up, I was told how alcohol was poison and it should never be consumed. There were a lot of do's and don'ts and of course as I got older, I started to test these limits. I started to explore in bars and seeing how alcohol can effect people but also how each place had a different experience to them.
This project involves shooting with a large format camera in these bars. By using long exposures, I'm able to catch the blurs of people which also can symbolize how drinking may feel. The negatives are then taken home and put through alcohol baths before being processed as I was curious if alcohol could also manipulate film. I found different kinds of alcohol would create different color shifts, clouds, and sometimes even burn through the negative taking away the image completely.
